About
What OwedAir is and how it makes money
A free check and claim letter for delayed, cancelled and overbooked flights under EU261 and UK261.
What it does
You tell us what happened to your flight. In about 30 seconds we tell you whether EU261 or UK261 may give you compensation, and we write a letter you can send to the airline yourself. If the airline says no, we show you what the courts ruled on its excuse and write your reply. All of it is free.
How it makes money
We earn an affiliate commission if you click through to a claim company (AirHelp or Compensair) and they take your case. That's the only way we get paid. If you claim yourself, we earn nothing and the compensation is all yours. Claim companies keep a share when they win, so check their fee first.
Your privacy
Nothing you type into the checker or the letter form leaves your browser. There's no sign-up. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our web host, Cloudflare, sees page requests like any web host, but never what you type. If you click a partner link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Not legal advice
We are not a law firm, and no lawyer has reviewed this site. We read the official texts ourselves and link to them, so you or an adviser can check what we say. Every case is different, so treat the result as a guide, not a guarantee.
Want a person to look at your case? In England and Wales, try Citizens Advice, whose flight delay page lists a consumer helpline. If you live in the EU, Norway or Iceland, your European Consumer Centre gives free advice on your rights when you travel in another country there.
The EU has adopted new EU261 rules that apply from 23 October 2027 (Regulation (EU) 2026/2202). Until then the current rules apply. We have not yet confirmed how the new rules treat earlier flights, and we will update this site before that date.
